How to Survive the 8th Grade

OK, personally I don't see the point of this essay at all. It's not like you need us to how to do well in school. Actually your probably going to get better grades than I did. 8th grade is just like any other year of AdVENTURE, except its just a little harder.....like any other year.

I guess that the main thing I can say is remember to turn in your work. I can't even think of the amount of times that I have done the work well, and then I forgot to turn it in. It is the worst, because you cant re submit a zero. But again all the other grades are like that as well. This was definitely the hardest part of 8th grade for me.

If I were to go back to the beginning of the year and change something. I would just try to have a better attitude about doing my work in class, instead of doing it at the last minute. And I would also remember to turn in EVERY ASSIGNMENT.

I remember this one time when the notebook check was due that day, and I had almost everything that I needed. I was pretty content with the amount of work that I had done. Well guess what, like i always do I forgot to turn in the notebook check. And because it was a notebook check, it was at the end of the grading period. I got a D+ in math.

It actually could have been a lot worse as well. The notebook check counts for all of the grading areas: (curricular literacy, work ethic, critical thinking, and collaboration). But Mrs. Hogen-esch decides to remove two of the sections for that notebook check. So if the notebook check were like all of the others I probably would have gotten an F.

One thing that I wish the teachers would have done is be a little more lenient on the once a zero always a zero rule. I think that you should be able to submit the work after it's due ONLY if the student can prove that he did the work before the due date. This would keep kids from just doing the work later, but it would let the people who only forgot to turn it in a second chance.

When I say that 8th grade is just like 7th grade it really is the same thing but it's slightly harder. All of the problems that I have said so far apply to any grade really. The once a zero always a zero policy is a thing for all grade, and that does make AdVENTURE hard for me. BUt really if you worrying about 8th grade don't as long as you do well in 7th grade 8th grade souln't be a problem at all.
